Performs building inspections and stand-alone electrical installations for the Jackson Hole Fire/EMS to verify compliance with technical requirements; reviews plans and technical drawings, inspects residential and commercial work sites, and verifies compliance to codes, regulations, ordinances, National Electrical Code. Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Helps to protect the lives and property of County residents through electrical inspections, public education programs, and construction plan reviews; conducts inspections of residential and commercial buildings to determine compliance with electrical safety standards, state statutes, and county and regional ordinances. Prepares written reports and issues technical enforcement documents; answers technical questions from contractors and vested or interested other parties. Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent 3+ years of experience in construction/inspection programs including experience reading electrical plans and supervising electrical installation. Work experience as a licensed Journeyman electrician Required Licenses And Certifications
Must maintain Journeyman Electrician certifications from the Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety is required. Incumbents may be required to obtain additional technical certifications. A valid State driver’s license may be required. Required Knowledge Of
County policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations governing building and safety codes. Methods and techniques of inspecting a variety of plans, buildings, and technical documents. Building Code, National Electric Code, National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS), Underwriters Laboratory White Book. Applying technical knowledge of building trades work and using sound inspection methods to determine workmanship and materials quality, and detect deviations from plans, specifications, and standard installation practices. Operating and maintaining computer and communications equipment. Required Skills
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment, with regular trips to building sites. Seniority level
