Exec. Dir. Learning & Talent Development role at Wellstar Health System. Lead system-wide education initiatives to drive workforce capability, clinical excellence, and professional growth across a 12-hospital system with over 35,000 employees. This role blends evidence-based competency frameworks, immersive simulation, and learning technologies to sustain a highly skilled and agile workforce. The ideal candidate is a licensed clinician with deep experience in L&D strategy, clinical education, and the ability to influence senior leadership and adapt to rapidly changing healthcare priorities. Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Learning Architecture: Develop a robust, system-wide L&D strategy aligned with clinical excellence, patient safety, regulatory standards, and system goals; build adaptive, scalable learning solutions for rapid workforce transformation; employ contemporary competency frameworks to ensure relevance, rigor, and accountability in education. Organizational Agility & Workforce Responsiveness: Assess talent needs across the organization and rapidly design onboarding, reskilling, crisis-readiness, and role-evolution learning programs; lead workforce development initiatives in response to new clinical programs, system growth, market shifts, or regulatory changes; champion innovation and apply agile methods to prioritize speed-to-competency and speed-to-impact. Team & People Leadership: Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary education team (clinical educators, instructional designers, learning technologists); foster a culture of agility, collaboration, innovation, and accountability; develop internal talent and succession pipelines within the L&D team and broader workforce. Clinical & Curriculum Excellence: Align learning programs with clinical practice standards and quality measures; collaborate with clinical leaders to design and validate certification-eligible programs; ensure accreditation readiness and compliance; provide applied learning experiences for CareerCare and workforce enablement programs. Technology, Tools & Learning Innovation: Leverage LMS, simulation systems, digital credentials, and analytics to enhance learner engagement; implement innovations such as microlearning, virtual simulation, AI-driven personalization, and mobile-accessible education; monitor EdTech trends to keep the organization at the forefront of healthcare education. Enterprise Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with HR, clinical and operational leaders to align L&D with workforce planning, DEI, retention, and leadership development; serve as a trusted advisor to executives and managers on workforce agility and learning strategy; represent the health system externally on learning strategy and academic partnerships. Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or other fields; or Master’s degree in Education (Preferred) / Master’s Nursing (Preferred). Additional Licenses & Certifications: RN (Single State) upon hire preferred; NBRC-RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) upon hire preferred. Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in healthcare or clinical education; at least 7 years of experience in project management and implementing educational services; minimum 5 years clinical healthcare or clinical education. Required Minimum Skills: Excellent project management and software skills; strong communication, presentation, and customer-relations skills; ability to influence cross-functionally; understanding of information systems impact on operations; experience leading L&D programs in complex, matrixed organizations; competency models (e.g., Donna Wright), simulation-based learning, and technology-enhanced instruction; ability to lead in fast-changing environments with adaptive learning strategies.
