Overview

Director of Learning & Development (L&D) to design and lead AmeriVet’s enterprise-wide learning strategy. This highly visible leadership role requires collaboration with the COO, CMO, and other key stakeholders to shape and execute a strategy that supports AmeriVet’s growth. The Director will ensure that DVMs, veterinary technicians, client service teams, and leaders at all levels receive targeted, impactful training to maximize clinical capacity, build leadership capability, and improve practice performance across sites. Key Responsibilities

Enterprise L&D Strategy: Develop and implement a multi-year learning and development strategy aligned with AmeriVet’s growth objectives, focusing on clinical development for DVMs, support staff skills, and leadership capability-building. Partner with the COO and CMO to define clinical education priorities, ensuring learning initiatives are tied to improving practice capacity and patient care. Program Design & Delivery: Oversee the creation and deployment of scalable, multi-modal learning programs (in-person, virtual, digital) for a geographically dispersed workforce. Establish clinical pathways, career development frameworks, and leadership training programs to improve retention, readiness, and engagement. Integrate best practices in adult learning, clinical simulation, leadership development, and emerging technologies (LMS, mobile learning, microlearning, etc.). Performance Management & Leadership Development: Partner with People & Culture to design and enhance the performance management framework, ensuring alignment between individual goals, development plans, and organizational objectives. Build and scale leadership development initiatives for practice managers, regional leaders, and future executives to strengthen the leadership pipeline; provide tools, resources, and coaching to help leaders develop and retain their teams. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership: Build strong relationships with senior leaders, practice managers, and hospital teams to secure buy-in and adoption of training initiatives; act as a trusted advisor to operational and clinical leaders. Measurement & Continuous Improvement: Define KPIs and success metrics (e.g., clinical efficiency, leadership readiness, patient throughput, retention, satisfaction); use data to refine programs and demonstrate ROI to executives. Operational Leadership: Manage the L&D budget and mentor a high-performing L&D team that can scale with organizational growth. Strategic Outcomes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Education, Organizational Development, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in Learning & Development, Performance Management, or Organizational Development, ideally within veterinary, healthcare, or multi-site environments. Strong knowledge of instructional design, adult learning theory, leadership development, and clinical education models. Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders (COO, CMO) to shape strategy and drive adoption. Experience designing scalable programs for a multi-state, multi-site workforce. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and modern digital learning platforms. Excellent communication, facilitation, and change leadership skills.
