The Delacorte Press imprint of Random House Children's Books/Penguin Random House has an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join their team, reporting to an Executive Editor handling licensed projects for high-profile brands such as Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and also assisting a Senior Editor on the Delacorte Press editorial team.The Assistant will be responsible for administrative and editorial support across an array of titles. This position provides the opportunity to learn about the overall editorial process and the inner workings of a large publishing house, while benefiting from being a part of this unique role. Delacorte Press is a collaborative publishing environment, and candidates should be comfortable working as part of a team and willing to go the extra mile for authors and licensing partners. Specific responsibilities include: Provide general administrative support including preparation of materials for meetings including presentation decks, maintaining publication schedules, taking and distributing minutes for meetings, and filing expense reports Read and evaluate proposals, outlines, and manuscripts Collect sales data and provide competitive title research Assist with drafting cover copy,preparing title information sheets, and other materials Submit various materials to relevant licensor approval systems Assist with author, licensor, and agent communications and requests Learn editorial skills, including line and structural editing, under the guidance of the editors and offer creative input Assist in the acquisitions process by reading and evaluating submissions Format manuscripts for production and track copyedits and page proofs Update online metadata fields for current, forthcoming, and backlist titles Track pop-culture trends across a variety of entertainment mediums Please apply if you have the following qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills Ability to prioritize under pressure in a deadline driven environment Interest in licensed publishing, pop culture and young adult fiction; an interest in romance fiction is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Prior internship or related experience is a plus The PRH office is located in New York, NY. This NYC-based hybrid role requires candidates to be within a commutable distance and able to come into the office approximately 1 – 3 days per week. The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
