Newscast Director . The Newscast Director is responsible for facilitating the overall look and presentation of news production. Responsibilities
Multitask and provide detailed leadership in the control room and on set. Interface and communicate all technical and staging requirements between producers and the production crew. Collaborate with producers to facilitate production elements, including music, graphics, lighting, camera blocking, guest interactions, set furnishings, and other presentation elements. Communicate all necessary instructions to the production crew before and during newscasts. Generate daily Production Reports detailing technical and operational notes from newscasts. Follow up and reconcile technical and operational issues related to daily production processes. Call daily newscasts and other original productions, including post-sports shows, special events, webcasts, and assist in creative services productions. Utilize Ross Overdrive APC, switcher, and routers while coordinating live production positions. Contribute to the production of content for WDAF+, the station’s connected TV streaming app. In addition to Newscast Director duties, run robotic cameras, operate the audio board, floor direct, and help maintain studio cleanliness. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Television or a related field. Television production studio and control room experience. Five or more years of professional experience in live television production and directing (preferred). Experience with APC operations (preferably Ross Overdrive). Strong organizational and communication skills; able to lead and motivate producers and crew. Excellent judgment and timely decision-making in a dynamic live news environment. Fundamental understanding of news video and audio production equipment technologies. Ability to call live and operate Ross Overdrive or equivalent automated systems. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Working knowledge of NRCS (preferably ENPS), video servers, graphic playout systems (preferably Ross Xpression), video routers, switchers (preferably Ross Acuity), ENG and robotic cameras, wireless lavs, and audio boards. Microsoft Office/Outlook proficiency. Ability to work under deadlines and pressure; make quick decisions and give clear instructions to crew during live broadcasts. Team player with innovative thinking and creativity; willing to take on additional duties as required.
