has an opening for a

Senior Staff Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineer

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the Palmdale Aircraft Integration organization. This position may be located in

El Segundo, CA

(preferred) or Palmdale, CA with the ability to travel to El Segundo approx. 50% of the time. The selected candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Serves as organization spokesperson on multiple advanced projects and/or programs that have a direct impact on the sector

Own aspects of materials and process engineering related to testing, process development, and material selection

Approve material and process selection based on program requirements

Design and develop new processes for implementing materials related to F-35

Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations

Support design engineering and production for materials selection

Test and characterize materials

Provides teams with internal and external knowledge of the technical industry and how it impacts the company

Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects

Negotiate and request changes, with the customer, to material and process specifications, as well as quality control specifications

Serves as a mentor

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 14+ years' relevant experience; OR Masters in a STEM discipline and 12+ years’ relevant experience; OR Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 9+ years’ relevant experience

Composite manufacturing experience on F-35 or similar platform

Experience with materials testing and characterization

Experience with material selection, such as: Polymers and adhesives, Composites, Metals

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in one of the following disciplines: materials engineering, chemical engineering, polymer science, or similar

Experience with process engineering including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Experience with risk mitigation including implementation of failure analysis techniques in manufacturing, ramp-up rate for high volume manufacturing, and/or yield engineering

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
