Location: Washington, District of Columbia, USA. The IDB Group focuses on improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean through development financing, loans, grants, and technical assistance. The current position is within the Productivity, Trade and Innovation Sector (PTI), which supports governments with productive development, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, trade and investment facilitation, and related areas. Contribute to the design, preparation, and execution of policy research projects on productivity, trade, investment, and tourism; develop, publish, and disseminate working papers and policy research reports; present findings in journals, workshops, conferences, and public-facing formats. Integrate technical knowledge into the design, monitoring, and evaluation of PTI operations and initiatives, including engagement with the private sector (platforms, fora, events). Evaluate productivity, trade, investment, and tourism policies and institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean and provide evidence-based policy recommendations to IDBG member countries. Participate in joint research projects, data gathering, and dialogue with regional and international partners and universities. Contribute to IDBG country programming exercises and policy dialogues; provide technical inputs to IDBG-wide initiatives and activities; collaborate with PTI Sector Economic Advisor and other PTI areas. Work in close coordination with PTI stakeholders to ensure alignment with sector priorities. What you’ll need
Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience in policy research and data analysis in productivity, international trade, and investment. Publications in scientific journals or collaborations with government entities or international organizations are a plus. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English (spoken and written) is required. French and Portuguese are preferable. Eligibility & Contract
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of the IDB Group’s 48 member countries. Relocation and visa assistance may be available for eligible dependents. Consanguinity: No family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab. Type of contract: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement. What we offer
