We have an opening for an individual to work in our Shelter Staff program. Residential Counselors are responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and evening expectations using a trauma informed and client centered approach. Other responsibilities include: assisting with screening, intake activities and orientation of new clients into the shelter program; providing guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, house rules and policies; overseeing security and safety; completing housekeeping duties; ensuring daily chores are completed; providing emergency crisis management to individuals.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required

1 year previous experience working with individuals in need of social services (preferably low income individuals) strongly preferred

Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Excellent crisis management skills

Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection

Good attention to detail

Bilingual skills preferred
