The Robotic Surgical Technologies Business Unit sets the standard for Robotically Assisted Surgery (RAS) by creating innovative surgical products and services focused on surgical procedures of diseases and conditions.

You will join a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for test developments for the Medtronic’s Robotic Assisted Surgery platform through commercial launch and production scale‑up. Impact patient outcomes. Come for a job, stay for a career.

The Minimally Invasive Therapies Group strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication‑free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions. SURGICAL INNOVATIONS set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services focused on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract.

You Will:

Working in a technical diverse environment

Develop Software for test fixtures (e.g. controllers and controlled kinematics for robotic and instrumentational applications)

Communicating between engineering services and external sources: electro‑mechanical systems engineers, and test services

Creating and maintaining software repositories and version control

Working in extended teams in need of software related services

Working in controlled environment (medical devices), ISO60601

Must Have:

Bachelors Degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

PhD with 0 years relevant experience

Strong C, C++, Python knowledge/experience

Extensive experience in QNX real time operating system

Profound in software development for embedded systems

Understanding of version control systems and configuration management (GIT)

Nice to Have:

Experience with software development in a highly regulated environment

Experience in maintaining code and designing software repositories

Extensive experience in validating software and hardware

Experience in developing software for electro‑mechanical systems (robotics)

Working knowledge of design, development, and trouble shooting of software for complex electromechanical systems

Experience with microprocessor, microcontroller architectures and assembly language

Experience with shell scripting under Linux

Understanding of standard OS features (e.g. threading and concurrency, memory management, device drivers, I/O, etc.) is strongly preferred

Experience with industry standard communication interfaces such as UART, USB, I2C, SPI

Experienced in documenting code and test procedures and releasing in industry standard repositories (e.g. Agile)

Extensive experience in validating software and hardware

Demonstrated ability to quickly interpret an extensive variety of technical information and find resolution to an issue quickly

Benefits & Compensation Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations: $122,400.00 – $183,600.00. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. Compensation complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification, education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States. Regular employees receive benefits such as health, dental, vision insurance, health savings account, healthcare flexible spending account, life insurance, long‑term disability leave, dependent daycare, tuition assistance, incentive plans, 401(k) plan with employer match, short‑term disability, paid time off, paid holidays, employee stock purchase plan, employee assistance program, non‑qualified retirement plan supplement, and capital accumulation plan.
