Job Title: R&D Scientist II – Chemist (Materials/Polymers)

Location: Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417 (On-site, 5 days/week)

Duration: 12-month initial contract (Potential for extension)

Compensation: $35 – $39/Hr. (W2 only, some flexibility)

Job Overview We are seeking a Chemist with 2+ years of industry experience, ideally with a background in materials science or polymers related to medical devices. The successful candidate will support R&D for blood collection devices (e.g., plastic tubing, vials, etc.).

Note: This role involves working with human blood samples. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Represent R&D in cross-functional teams supporting technology and product development programs

Design and execute experiments for development, verification, and validation of medical devices

Interact with material suppliers and conduct feasibility studies

Support design verification/validation and design transfer to manufacturing

Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams

Document technical findings and support IP generation (e.g., invention disclosures, patents)

Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and maintain a safe lab environment

Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative work environment

Travel as needed (e.g., manufacturing sites, conferences, customer visits)

Required Qualifications Education

B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related engineering disciplines

Experience

Minimum 2–3 years of direct laboratory experience

Background in polymer formulation, processing, and structure-property relationships

Skills

Experience working with clinical specimens (human blood) preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of statistical analysis tools is a plus

Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams

High learning agility and a hands-on approach
