Role Description The Plant Controller is a key member of the local leadership team, collaborating closely with the President, Production Manager, and Procurement, as well as with corporate leadership. This role is responsible for executing all aspects of accounting while improving existing business processes and developing new ones to support operational and financial excellence.
The Plant Controller oversees financial statement preparation and review, reporting and analysis, key metric monitoring, working capital and cash flow management, and product costing. In addition, this position plays a critical role in the oversight, development, and mentoring of support staff and shop floor employees on the accurate utilization of the Company’s ERP system.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands‑on professional with strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts. Key Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory management.
Execute month‑end close processes, including preparation and coordination of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Lead the annual budgeting process, including labor and overhead expenses and standard product costing.
Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Ensure consistent costing methodologies and data alignment across manufacturing, inventory, and procurement in collaboration with corporate leadership.
Manage product costing, payroll, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting.
Support Operations and Corporate Finance with daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial metrics.
Prepare weekly and monthly forecasts.
Partner with Engineering and Operations on capital project approval requests.
Analyze, interpret, and present financial and operational results to plant and corporate leadership.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and corporate financial standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Significant ERP experience, preferably with GSS ERP or similar systems.Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and process improvement skills.
