Base pay range:

$65,000 – $75,000 per year

Position Summary Garden Care Center is seeking a dedicated, hands‑on, and experienced Director of Maintenance and Housekeeping to oversee the full scope of facility operations related to cleanliness, sanitation, repair, and physical plant management. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and high‑quality environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. This leadership role ensures regulatory compliance, optimal safety, preventive maintenance, and organized housekeeping scheduling.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance Oversight

Direct all aspects of building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general equipment.

Manage and implement a preventive maintenance plan to ensure facility safety and regulatory compliance.

Conduct regular building inspections to identify and resolve physical plant deficiencies.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, equipment manuals, warranties, and safety data sheets.

Oversee external contractors and service vendors, ensuring quality workmanship and cost control.

Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies or urgent repair requests.

Housekeeping Leadership

Oversee all housekeeping and laundry functions to ensure rooms, common areas, and linen services meet DOH infection control standards.

Develop and maintain housekeeping staff schedules to provide seven‑day coverage.

Train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping and laundry personnel.

Maintain cleaning supply inventories, ensuring proper storage and usage.

Perform routine quality inspections to ensure cleanliness and satisfaction.

Implement cleaning protocols for isolation rooms and high‑touch surfaces.

Administrative and Regulatory Duties

Ensure compliance with state, federal, OSHA, and Department of Health regulations related to environmental services.

Prepare for and participate in surveys, audits, and fire safety inspections.

Maintain documentation for life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and generator testing.

Assist with emergency preparedness planning and drills.

Develop departmental budgets, control expenses, and optimize resources.

Conduct onboarding and continuous training of staff on safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in environmental services, preferably in a healthcare or long‑term care facility.

Proven knowledge of building systems and preventive maintenance.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety codes, and technical manuals.

Working knowledge of OSHA and DOH regulations.
