Facilities & Fleet Management Director – City of Miami Beach, FL The City of Miami Beach is seeking a solution‑oriented Facilities and Fleet Director to lead the comprehensive management and maintenance of the City’s extensive portfolio of facilities, real property, and fleet vehicles. This executive‑level position serves on the City’s executive leadership team.

Overview As Director, you will oversee a portfolio of over 387 parcels totaling approximately 30 million square feet, manage the day‑to‑day operations of 101 municipal buildings, 39 bridges, 15 monuments, 23 fountains, and more, and maintain a fleet of roughly 1,250 vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, light trucks, vans, and specialty equipment.

Responsibilities

Lead a professional team of 67 FTEs across three divisions to execute asset management, facilities maintenance, and fleet operations.

Develop and implement data‑driven strategies to optimize the City’s facilities and fleet portfolio.

Coordinate with City planning, budgeting, and capital improvement teams to ensure alignment of facilities and fleet operations with long‑term City objectives.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing facilities and fleet management.

Represent the City in external forums, vendor negotiations, and partnership engagements related to facilities and fleet services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or related field OR seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience.

Public sector experience preferred; experience managing large municipal property and fleet assets a significant advantage.

Demonstrated ability to make data‑driven decisions and lead a high‑performing team.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $152,246 – $275,448; hiring range $220,000 – $240,000 (depending on qualifications).

Comprehensive benefits package: 12 vacation days, 12 sick days, 15 paid holidays (11 holidays and 4 floating holidays); partially sponsored medical and dental insurance, life insurance.
