Facilities & Fleet Management Director

City of Miami Beach (pop. 80,000) seeks a solution‑oriented facilities and fleet leader who can excel in a fast‑pasted environment as its next Facilities and Fleet Director. This position serves on the City’s executive leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management and maintenance of an extensive portfolio of City‑owned assets including facilities, real property, and fleet vehicles. The successful candidate will have experience and extensive knowledge of industry standards and will have a track record of making data‑driven decisions and leading a team that provides exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
Oversee comprehensive management and maintenance of the City’s assets, including facilities, real property, and fleet vehicles. Manage an Asset Management portfolio of over 387 parcels totaling approximately 30 million square feet. Lead day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of the City’s 101 municipal buildings, Lincoln Road District, 39 bridges, 15 monuments, 23 fountains, and more. Maintain and repair the City’s fleet of approximately 1,250 vehicles, including 880 sedans, SUVs, light trucks and vans, and a variety of heavy‑duty trucks and specialty equipment. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, public administration, or a related field OR 7 years of progressively responsible management experience. 7 years of experience relevant to the major duties/essential functions of the position. Public sector experience preferred. Compensation
Salary range: $152,246 – $275,448. Expected hiring range: $220,000 – $240,000, plus an excellent benefits package. Benefits
12 vacation days, 12 sick days, 15 paid holidays (11 holidays and 4 floating holidays). Partially sponsored by the City group medical (including visual and dental) and life insurance. Excellent retirement plan: pre‑tax employee contribution added to the City’s contribution; 5‑year “cliff vesting.” Voluntary benefits (fully paid by the employee, payroll deductible): flexible spending account; 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, Roth IRA; universal and critical life insurance, disability insurance, long‑term care, and lump‑sum cancer policy.
