**Safety Manager, Decatur West Plant (167) - Decatur, IL**
This is an exempt level position
**Position Overview:**
The Safety Manager of the Decatur West Plant is responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of health and safety programs across a large scale crushing and refining oilseeds facility. This role plays a critical part in driving a culture of safety excellence, and regulatory compliance while enabling operational effectiveness and continuous improvement. This key plant leader will partner directly with plant and department leaders to reduce risk, strengthen safety capabilities, and align efforts across the Decatur West Complex. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
**Key Responsibilities:*** Act as the senior health and safety leader for the Decatur West Plant, serving as a trusted advisor to the Plant Manager and a liaison to the Corn and Oilseeds H&S Leadership Team, as well as the Safety Tech Center.* Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA), and ADM internal standards.* Lead and develop a team of H&S professionals, including H&S professionals and Total Process Safety engineers.* Monitor and analyze safety metrics, incident trends, and audit findings to drive continuous improvement and risk mitigation.* Provide leadership and accountability for safety reporting requirements in a computer safety management system.* Lead or have integral involvement in incident investigations.* Lead and provide oversight of injured colleague cases.**Position Requirements:*** Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related experience in ADM operations.* CSP, ASP, or equivalent professional safety certification is preferred.* Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards.* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems.* Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team.* Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.* The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold.* The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs
