About The Role
The
Applications Engineer III
(AE III) is a senior individual contributor for the Applications team at Spring. The AE III owns complex bids and concept development end-to-end, sets technical quality bars, and mentors others. This position reports to the Applications Team Lead.
In this role, you will…
Analyze customer requirements and RFPs to create feasible control system designs aligned with best practices.
Produce and review AutoCAD layouts and documentation, ensuring scope clarity and compliance with Spring standards.
Lead RFQ and vendor coordination to confirm accurate scope, cost, and schedule.
Act as a senior resource for material-handling controls, resolving complex challenges and proposing resilient solutions.
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Engineering to ensure complete project handoffs and clear documentation.
Mentor AE I–II, reinforcing standards and developing their independence.
Balance detail with efficiency, exercising judgment to decide when to dive deeper, make assumptions, or elevate questions under quick turnaround demands.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
7+ years of relevant applications or controls experience with ownership of complex bids and designs.
Advanced AutoCAD skills and strong documentation abilities.
Sound judgment defining scope, effort, and risk to ensure competitive, executable proposals.
Clear, concise communication and collaboration across Sales, Operations, and Engineering.
Innovative problem-solving under fast‑paced conditions.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and communication.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
