Mid-Level Image Scientist
Description:
KBR is seeking a mid-level Image Scientist to support government customers in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The Image Scientist (mid) provides expertise in imagery science, imagery analysis, and photogrammetry, enabling detailed technical analysis of GEOINT product quality. The scientist will oversee and maintain knowledge continuity within the team, support assessments and tasks both independently and with guidance, and assist in algorithm development and validation related to imagery science.
Responsibilities:
Provide support through technical reviews, consultations, oversight of GEOINT product quality assessments and studies, and strategic product quality guidance.
Validate and verify image processing algorithms for GEOINT product quality assessments and customer requests.
Support imagery science services and analysis for various imaging systems, products, and data formats, including sensor fidelity, pixel registration, Tonal Transfer Curve, Relative Edge Response, MTF, and SNR assessments.
Assist in the development and assessment of algorithms related to imagery science and product quality parameters.
Provide photogrammetric services, including geolocation accuracy, mensuration, ground sample distance calculations, and other analyses.
Support imagery analysis through technical reviews, consultations, and oversight of quality assessments and studies.
Contribute to planning, execution, and analysis of GEOINT product quality assessments, including imagery review, artifact analysis, and NIIRS evaluations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
4-7 years of experience and a B.S. in Imaging Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM field.
Knowledge of Image Quality Equations (IQEs) and their application.
Experience in creating and assessing algorithms, correcting system anomalies, and artifacts.
Experience with imagery evaluations, quality studies, sensor initializations, and algorithm assessments.
Understanding of modeling components of image creation, including sensors, detectors, atmospheric, and material properties.
Experience with imaging systems such as PAN, IR, MSI/HSI, RADAR, and LIDAR on space or airborne platforms.
Simulation, modeling, and algorithm documentation skills for software development.
Familiarity with GEOINT systems, products, exploitation software, and verification methodologies.
Proficiency with SAR, IR, Spectral, LIDAR, ArcGIS, RSI ENVI, and photogrammetry.
Experience in scientific image processing and analysis of SAR, IR, Spectral, Lidar imagery.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and operate independently.
