The Commercial Finance Manager is a newly created position, reporting into the VP, Commercial Finance, that will be responsible for the execution of best practices for promotional and marketing budgets utilization.
The role oversees a region’s P&L as well as specific brand groups at a national level, and will work closely with other commercial finance managers, distributor partners, sales leadership and brand portfolio managers to achieve optimization of investments and utilization of resources, program execution, KPIs, while balancing promotional and price actions.
Location: Port Washington, NY (Hybrid 4 days in office)
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Finance and Analytics
Key thought-partner and advisor to the regional sales teams and VP Finance
Maintain accountability for Regional spend accuracy within budget
Provide business performance tracking and insights to key stakeholders
Build ad-hoc “what-if” type analysis to support leadership decision making and conduct program post-analysis to evaluate ROI
Present financial business reviews to division leadership and distributor partners
Period end close analysis of actual results versus budget/forecast
Coach market teams to make profitable decisions
Month End Activities
Management and oversight of Distributor investment
Forecasting support
Pricing
Improve net sales performance by actively identifying strategic and tactical pricing optimization opportunities
Plan and execute annual pricing plan including price increases driven by COGS, Gap to comp sets etc
Conduct analysis of competitive activity in the market and recommend pricing counter tactics to commercial teams
Ensure market compliance with brand pricing strategy through periodic market surveys/syndicated data analysis
KPI
Operating income improvement at the regional level
Optimization of Brand Plans execution vs budgets
Deployment of best practices and effective workflows
Competencies
Strong analytical skills, Excel a must
Effective communication, verbal and in writing
A clear understanding of financial principles and ratios
Experience in the W&S industry with understanding of the three-tier system
Experience with dashboarding in BI tools (either directly or through BI partners) - demonstrated ability to create dynamic analytical tools leveraging a variety of data sources a plus
