Overview

The Department of Religious Studies at Nazareth University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in Fall 2026. We seek applicants who employ ethnographic methods to the study of World Religions with a specialization in Hindu traditions. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose work focuses on visual and performative arts. Also of interest are candidates with the ability to teach indigenous religions. We seek candidates committed to teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. Applicants who will contribute to the university’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment and the department’s emphasis on cross-cultural and interfaith awareness are especially encouraged to apply. Responsibilities

Teach the introductory course to world religions, upper-division courses in Hindu traditions, and upper-division thematic courses across world religions. Participate in events offered by The Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue. Maintain a teaching load of four courses per semester, generally with two or three preparations. Engage in service to the department, college, and community as aligned with specialization and interests. Qualifications

PhD in Religious Studies or related field with a specialization in Hindu traditions, or PhD completed by time of appointment (August 2026). Ability to use computers, software, and related technologies effectively. Preferred Qualifications
