Custodian / Driver Job Opportunity

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Custodian / Driver for the Christmas season (November and December) for the Area Command, located in Birmingham, Alabama. Pay Rate is $10.00 per hour.

Scheduled Hours : Monday - Friday 8am - 3 : 30pm

This position is responsible for :

Cleaning and maintaining the buildings and grounds to ensure neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities :

• Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds such as : cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors and replenishes supplies; sweeps vacuums, mops and waxes floors, sweeps sidewalks; cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; empties trash cans and collects trash from grounds.

What We Are Looking For In You

• Ability to follow instruction and work independently in a safe manner.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes / complies with all traffic signs and road / weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.

Licenses and Certifications : Valid state driver's license.
