The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.

Responsibilities

Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in allotted time.

Performs required daily clerical duties, including the use of EPIC, computer systems, patient scheduling, and other computer systems.

Performs portable ultrasound exams.

Performs a variety of complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities in accordance with prescribed sonographic procedures.

Determines, prepares, and sets up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.

Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.

Evaluates technical quality of images.

Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving, and de-archiving data as required.

Calculates, compiles, and records data from numerical readings on patient’s charts and related documents.

Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.

Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.

Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (age, culture, language, etc.).

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

High School diploma, GED, or GED equivalent programs.

Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.

Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control.

Understanding of equipment and computer systems as well as procedures for equipment service.

Knowledge of safety, infection control, and disaster policy and procedures, including patient care in emergency situations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience at a Maternal Fetal Medicine practice.

Licenses And Certifications Required

ARDMS Certification or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.

Nuchal Translucency Certification within 90 days of entering position.

BLS AHA Basic Life Support Certification.

Licenses And Certifications Preferred

Fetal Echocardiography Certification.

Compensation Minimum rate of $43.63 Hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
