Breast Ultrasound Technologist - Per Diem Join Hackensack Meridian Health as a Breast Ultrasound Technologist for a per diem position. This role supports breast care by performing high‑frequency ultrasound examinations and assisting radiologists with diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform breast ultrasound procedures according to departmental format, completing exams within allotted time.

Execute required daily clerical duties, including use of Epic, patient scheduling, and other medical center computer systems.

Utilize high‑frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities, including masses and abscesses, per prescribed sonographic procedures.

Identify patient images with correct name, MRN, and confirm images are labeled to the breast side with technologist initials.

Assist radiologist with biopsy studies and color‑flow ultrasound as required.

Determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.

Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, explain procedures, and position patients for each anatomical view.

Perform portable breast imaging on ER and inpatients as needed.

Interview and discharge patients after their procedure.

Ensure proper labeling of specimen bags.

Evaluate technical quality of images.

Obtain and process images of pathogenic conditions per standard procedures or techniques.

Maintain records of ultrasound taken, archiving, and de‑archiving data as required.

Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Clean and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment; stock and replenish supplies as required.

Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 8 hours a day.

Greets in/out patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.

Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.

Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.

Identify the needs of the patient population served, modify and deliver care specific to those needs, and communicate with patients and caregivers at their level.

Adhere to standards of behavior, attendance, punctuality, and organizational competencies.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.

A.R.D.M.S. registered.

Minimum of 2 years training in Allied Health/College.

Certified in Breast within 6 months of hire.

Must be able to perform CPR.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills that include Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses & Certifications

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification or Breast Sonography Certification.

Maintains 30 CEU Credits within a three‑year period.

Compensation & Benefits Minimum hourly $43.63. HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
