The Psychiatrist role is essential for overseeing quality of care, performing assessments, directing therapeutic care, and documenting reimbursement accurately. Position Summary
The Psychiatrist is responsible for supervising clinical quality, evaluating admission appropriateness, conducting psychiatric assessments, implementing therapeutic interventions, and directing the treatment team. The role includes documentation for reimbursement, addressing civil commitment statutes, providing consultations, and complying with all Medical Staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and facility policies. Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine (MD or DO) and completion of psychiatric residency. Board certification or eligibility for Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry or Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry. Experience:
One (1) year of professional experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility preferred. Licensure:
Current license by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. Knowledge:
General medicine and psychiatry, current developments in psychiatry, hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures. Abilities:
Diagnose and treat severe and persistent mental illness, analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action, prepare records and reports, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and maintain objectivity. Position Highlights
