We are seeking a

Medical Lab Scientist PRN

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Receive blood specimens, perform blood tests, and study the morphology of blood components.

Perform routine or special clinical laboratory tests in several sections of the Laboratory using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis.

Maintain and use various equipment in the Laboratory including automated, chemistry analyzers, ion‑specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.

Perform antibody screening, antibody identification, and cross‑matching procedures required in the administration of blood/blood components and identify antibodies in donors or patient blood that could react adversely during transfusion.

Notify nursing units and/or physicians of critical lab values.

Implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation as appropriate to keep department current with technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or related sciences with practical training program.

Associate’s degree acceptable with appropriate years of experience.

Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT) from ASCP or equivalent.

3‑5 years laboratory experience.

American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.
