Corporate Accountant – Chesapeake Search Partners We’re seeking a hands‑on

Corporate Accountant

who’s eager to take ownership of core accounting functions while gaining exposure to a broad range of real estate investments and joint ventures.

This role will be responsible for managing the corporate general ledger, cash management, and accounts payable, while also supporting the accounting and financial reporting for multiple operating entities.

It’s an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build on their accounting foundation and grow into a broader leadership role within a dynamic and entrepreneurial real estate investment platform.

Key Responsibilities

Own the day‑to‑day accounting operations, including cash management, accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance.

Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for review by senior leadership.

Manage recurring payments and maintain supporting schedules for corporate payables, receivables, and fixed assets.

Oversee bank reconciliations and ensure accurate tracking of all incoming and outgoing cash activity.

Support the month‑end close process and participate in ongoing improvements to accounting systems and procedures.

Investment & Joint Venture Accounting

Review financial packages from joint venture partners to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards.

Prepare journal entries related to acquisitions, dispositions, depreciation, loan amortization, and leasing commissions.

Coordinate quarterly distributions with asset managers and joint venture partners.

Reconcile entity‑level bank accounts and ensure compliance with internal financial oversight policies.

Provide accurate and timely tax and audit support, including preparation of year‑end documentation and communication with external partners.

Process Improvement & Leadership Exposure

Collaborate with the CFO and Director of Accounting on corporate reporting and cash flow management.

Identify and implement process efficiencies to streamline reporting and strengthen internal controls.

Gain exposure to fund accounting, investment structures, and performance analysis.

Participate in system enhancements (Yardi, Excel, or ERP tools) to improve visibility and accuracy across entities.

Take on increasing responsibility over time with the potential to step into a senior or management‑level accounting role as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within real estate investment, private equity, or a related financial services environment.

Strong understanding of GAAP, multi‑entity accounting, and financial reporting.

Hands‑on experience with Yardi, QuickBooks, or other ERP/GL systems.

Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling).

Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis.

Collaborative mindset with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Experience supporting external audits and working with third‑party partners.

Primarily on‑site role with flexibility for occasional remote or flex days.
