Save Job

At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co‑opting physiologically‑relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically‑validated targets.

As an Associate Director, Computational Chemistry, you will apply computational chemistry methods to support drug discovery, optimization, and development within the chemistry team. You will collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to guide the optimization of drug candidates that induce protein degradation.

We look for teammates who are inspired by our mission and want to work in a collaborative, rigorous, and entrepreneurial environment. We seek candidates who are self‑motivated, collaborative, proactive, and possess a strong desire to discover novel biology and new drugs. Efficient time management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and passion for high‑quality, translational science are essential.

Impact You'll Make

Lead Lyterian’s CADD‑related research such as virtual screening, hit identification and structure‑based design during lead optimization of small molecules

Work with medicinal chemists and biologists to guide the optimization of drug candidates

Use machine‑learning (ML) to build in silico models to predict DMPK properties

Perform and automate high‑throughput molecular dynamics simulations to predict protein function and protein‑ligand binding

Scientific programming to enhance our scientific methods and capabilities

Apply established tools but also design new methods/tools to answer specific questions

Develop and contribute to company's intellectual property (IP) domain by way of patents and/or publications

Stay up‑to‑date with emerging scientific literature

Collaborate and communicate across a diverse scientific team to successfully progress Lyterian goals

Qualifications

PhD in computational chemistry or related discipline with 7–15 years of industrial/postdoctoral experience in drug discovery

Expertise in computer‑aided drug design (CADD)/structure‑ and ligand‑based design

Practical, working experience with computational chemistry software from companies such as Dotmatics, Schrodinger, Molecular Operating Environment (MOE), OpenEye, and Gaussian

Experience in collaborating with other functional team members such as chemists and biologists

Experience in QSAR, QSPR, conformational analysis and as much as the following areas: molecular mechanics and dynamics, quantum mechanics, statistical design of experiments (DoE), multiparameter optimization, and/or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)

Computer skills including programming experience with languages such as perl, python, or C++, preferably in a UNIX environment is a plus

Expertise in algorithms for cheminformatics/database applications, with understanding of software development strategy and practice is a plus

A solid understanding of experimental assay methods and technology used to identify and quantify protein‑ligand interactions, a working knowledge of in vitro/in vivo DMPK principles is a plus

Initiative and boldness to dive into a fast‑paced new startup
