Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Urology Clinic (Ambulatory Care)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: Oct 27, 2025 – End: Jan 26, 2026)
Shift: 5x8‑Hour Days (Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:30)
Hours per Week: 40
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,660 – $1,780
Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
Daily Census: 25–65 patients
Unit Size: 6 rooms
Charting System: Cerner (Any EMR preferred)
Orientation: 60 hours
Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
Qualifications
Active DC RN license required
BLS certification required
Minimum 2 years recent RN experience (ambulatory care or urology nursing preferred)
At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
Proficiency in lab result interpretation, medication reconciliation, pain assessment, vital signs, AED use, oxygen administration, Foley catheter insertion, and universal precautions
Ability to wear lead apron during video urodynamic studies (regularly 1 day per week, occasionally more)
Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Two supervisor references required
Excellent critical thinking and acute care skills
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with urologic conditions (kidney stones, urinary retention, incontinence, pelvic or urethral trauma, neurogenic bladder, erectile dysfunction, etc.)
Assist with and set up for urology procedures: urinary catheter changes, suprapubic catheter changes, bladder scans, void trials, urodynamic studies (UDS), video urodynamic studies (VUDS), cystoscopy, and gender‑affirmation surgery pre‑ and post‑op care
Perform patient assessments, medication reconciliation, pain assessments, and vital sign monitoring
Interpret laboratory results and document accurately in the EMR (Cerner preferred)
Float to other ambulatory care units of similar or lower acuity as required
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams)
Maintain universal precautions and adhere to infection control protocols
Provide patient education, telephone triage, and follow‑up support
Wear lead apron during video urodynamic studies as needed
