ADVICS North America (OH) is a values-driven manufacturer of brake calipers, electronic stability control units, and electric parking brakes for over 20 different vehicles for many of the world’s leading auto manufacturers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of HR & EHS provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Human Resources and EHS functions across ADVICS Ohio. Reporting to the President and CEO and serving as a key member of the leadership team, this role aligns people strategy and safety initiatives with business objectives to support a high-performance, values-driven culture built on trust, respect, and continuous improvement.

The Director leads a team of approximately 8 professionals across HR, safety, and training and partners with the ADVICS North America group to align with corporate strategies and best practices. Additional responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and executive leadership team on all HR and EHS matters. Develop and execute HR and EHS strategies that align with organizational goals and operational excellence. Represent the Ohio operation in collaboration with the ADVICS North America HR leadership team to share best practices and ensure consistency across sites. Lead, mentor, and develop the HR and EHS team to deliver high-quality, employee-centered services. Champion a workplace culture that promotes teamwork, safety, integrity, and innovation.

Operational Excellence Build strong relationships across departments to integrate HR and EHS into daily operations and long-term business planning. Optimize HRIS systems and analytics to strengthen workforce reporting and decision-making. Monitor key HR and EHS metrics, identify trends, and implement data-driven improvement initiatives. Stay current with best practices, employment law, and evolving safety regulations to ensure compliance and performance excellence.

Talent Management & Development Lead all aspects of talent acquisition, selection, and onboarding for hourly and salaried employees. Develop and oversee leadership development, training, and performance management programs. Design and implement succession planning and career pathing strategies to ensure organizational continuity and employee growth. Partner with leaders to foster a positive employee experience and strengthen engagement and retention.

Employee & Labor Relations Maintain a visible presence across shifts and facilities to understand employee perspectives and maintain trust. Oversee employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution to promote a fair and inclusive workplace. Partner with managers to consistently apply policies and build a culture of accountability and respect.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance Manage competitive compensation and benefits programs in collaboration with the ADVICS North America HR team. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local labor and employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, NLRA, ISO 14001, etc.). Oversee workers’ compensation, safety-related HR programs, and compliance reporting. Collaborate with finance and external vendors on payroll, benefits, and audit processes. Provide strategic direction for EHS initiatives that promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. Champion continuous improvement in safety culture, training, and preventive programs. Lead incident investigations, safety audits, and corrective action processes.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required. 8–12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including responsibility for EHS or safety programs. Advanced HR or EHS certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, ASP, CSP) preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and executing HR and EHS strategies aligned with business objectives. Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels in a manufacturing environment. Experience with HRIS and workforce analytics systems preferred. High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in managing sensitive matters. Demonstrated experience working with external legal counsel and ensuring compliance with all relevant state and federal laws.
