Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting all functional areas of the Human Resources department in a dynamic manufacturing environment specializing in metal and coatings. This role is integral to fostering a compliant, productive, and respectful workplace culture. The incumbent will provide comprehensive HR support including recruitment, employee relations, policy administration, performance management, and regulatory compliance.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding
Manage full-cycle recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried personnel in alignment with operational needs. Facilitate onboarding programs to ensure seamless integration of new employees into the organization. Partner with departmental leadership to forecast staffing needs and enhance talent acquisition strategies.
Employee Relations
Serve as a key resource for employees and supervisors on human resources-related issues, offering guidance and interpretation of policies and procedures. Assist in the resolution of employee grievances and the execution of disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy and employment law. Support initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, retention, and workplace satisfaction.
Policy and Compliance
Ensure company policies, procedures, and practices are compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Participate/lead the preparation and support of HR audits, both internal and external.
Training and Development
Lead the training initiatives, including safety programs, skills development, and compliance education. Assist in the implementation and administration of performance management systems, including annual review cycles and documentation.
Benefits And Payroll Administration
Support benefits administration, including employee enrollments, changes, and inquiries. Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll and ensure accuracy in timekeeping and compensation data for processing.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Support
Guide the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations and promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization. Support incident reporting procedures and assist with corrective actions and follow-up.
Qualifications And Experience
Education
Bachelors degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline required or equivalent experience.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Skills And Competencies
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS platforms (Paycom).
Work Environment
Position requires regular presence in both office and manufacturing environments. Exposure to production-related conditions such as noise, heat, and moving equipment may occur. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required by safety protocols.
