The Director of Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining and governing the overall technology architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving digital transformation across the enterprise. This role provides leadership in technology planning, solution design, and enterprise architecture governance, enabling scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions that support long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
Partner with business and IT leadership to define technology investment priorities and guide digital transformation initiatives.
Anticipate emerging technologies and assess their relevance to the business.
Establish and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, standards, and reference models.
Ensure consistency, reusability, and scalability across applications, data, infrastructure, and security architectures.
Lead the design of solutions for complex, enterprise-wide initiatives.
Governance & Compliance
Chair or participate in architecture review boards to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards.
Manage technical debt and promote best practices in design and implementation.
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, business stakeholders, and technology teams.
Mentor and lead a team of enterprise and solution architects.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).
12+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in an enterprise architecture leadership role.
Proven experience leading enterprise-scale architecture initiatives in complex, global organizations.
Strong knowledge across multiple domains: applications, data, cloud, integration, infrastructure, and security.
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and modern delivery practices (Agile, DevOps).
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to align technology with business goals.
Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
Skilled in influencing and driving consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Innovative mindset with a track record of leveraging emerging technologies for business value.
