The Opportunity As a

Staff Structural – Transmission Line Engineer

you will:

Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.

Support large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765kV.

Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.

Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand project schedule, budget and quality requirements.

May assist with guiding engineering team members.

Maintain positive client relations and communicate effectively with the project team.

May assist with business development activities.

Function as a technical specialist.

With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.

Expand knowledge and skill set in your discipline.

The Team As part of BV Operations, your skills will support projects in Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. You will engage in exciting projects across the globe, learning and focusing on your own individual development.

Key Responsibilities

Continuously learn and apply independent knowledge of design guides, standards, codes, systems, and Black & Veatch policies related to assigned tasks.

Consistently and independently apply knowledge to comply with Black & Veatch quality program, and provide guidance to others from the same discipline.

Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform research, develop recommendations, and manage assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements.

Actively coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.

Assist with identifying key client interests and drivers on less complex projects, and communicate those to the project team.

Recognize as a technical specialist and design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area.

Typically assist with performance management process, mentoring, and recognition.

Ensure policies and procedures for the work group are effectively implemented and communicated.

Approve timesheets and expense reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.

Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.

Previous client interaction experience with solid relationship‑building abilities.

Proven strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to think quickly at the job site and in front of customer personnel.

Good listening, customer focus, priority setting, delegation, teamwork and team building skills.

Experience with the design of utility‑scale electrical transmission systems.

Structural design of transmission steel structures and foundations.

Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Minimum 5 years related work experience.

Certifications Most positions will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit.

Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
