Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Real Estate Development (NY & South Florida) Our client is a premier real estate development firm with a 20+ year legacy of delivering iconic, high-end condominium projects in Miami and New York City. Given a time of rapid growth and new projects, a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is needed to oversee the accounting and financial operations of the firm.

We’re seeking a seasoned financial leader to oversee accounting and finance operations across our high-profile development projects and real estate portfolio in New York and South Florida. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity, strategic alignment, and reporting excellence across all development activities. As a key partner to executive leadership, the CFO will bring deep expertise in development and construction accounting, fluency in Sage software, and the ability to synthesize complex financial data for high-stakes decision-making. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive transparency, compliance, and performance across a dynamic portfolio. Strategic Financial Oversight

Lead comprehensive financial management across development projects in New York and South Florida, leveraging Sage software to ensure precision in general ledger, AP/AR, and job cost accounting.

Budgeting & Forecasting Excellence

Partner with project leadership to develop and monitor budgets aligned with strategic objectives. Deliver accurate forecasts, proactively identifying financial risks and opportunities to support executive decision-making.

Oversee all payables and receivables, ensuring timely payments to subcontractors and vendors, and optimizing collections. Maintain strong vendor relationships while safeguarding liquidity and operational efficiency.

Conduct in-depth job cost analysis to track profitability and performance across the lifecycle of each development. Implement corrective actions to maintain financial health and margin integrity.

Executive Reporting & Insights

Produce high-quality financial statements, cash flow projections, and profitability reports. Present actionable insights and key performance indicators to senior leadership, enabling data-driven strategy.

Audit & Compliance Leadership

Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits. Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards, while maintaining transparency and accountability.

Champion the effective use of Sage software across the finance team. Lead training initiatives to elevate technical proficiency and streamline workflows.

Process Optimization & Controls

Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting processes to improve accuracy, reduce risk, and increase operational efficiency across the finance function.

The ideal Chief Financial Officer

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or advanced certification preferred.

Proven track record in construction and real estate development finance, with deep expertise in Sage and Procore platforms.

Mastery of construction-specific accounting principles, including job costing, project accounting, and financial controls.

Strong command of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.

Precision-driven approach to financial data management, with a focus on accuracy and risk mitigation.

Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously.

Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards relevant to real estate and construction finance.

Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across internal teams and external partners.

Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities to navigate complex financial challenges and drive performance.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Language Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

NOTE: This position is based full-time in our Miami office, reflecting the strategic importance of being closely aligned with our development operations. While some travel may be required to key growth markets, this is an in-office role, Monday through Friday, with limited flexibility for hybrid arrangements. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, on-site environment where real-time engagement drives results.
