Medical Lab Scientist II - Full time Nights/mornings Join the Texas Health Resources team as a Medical Lab Scientist II, working nights and mornings to ensure accurate patient results at the Texas Health Kaufman laboratory.

Work location and hours Texas Health Kaufman – 850 Ed Hall Drive, Kaufman 75142 Full Time, 40 hours a week. Monday through Friday 8:00 Pm – 6:30 am

Here’s What You Need

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or related science preferred. Candidates hired as CLS II before January 3, 2010 will be grandfathered to MLS position with existing education.

Current THR Laboratory MLS employee required.

2 Years Experience in a Medical Laboratory required.

MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) upon hire required, or equivalent state license, or Philippine Board of Technical Technology upon hire.

Strong positive interpersonal skills; ability to read, write and speak English clearly.

Problem solving, time management, organizational skills, and computer literacy.

What You Will Do

Maintain specimen integrity by evaluating and solving problems related to collection and processing.

Check outstanding test lists in a timely manner.

Troubleshoot and follow through on outstanding tests when they have not been collected/received as expected.

Use computer downtime procedures when the system is not available.

Utilize downtime between testing for tasks such as evaluating kits, preparing controls, supply management, and housekeeping duties.

Participate in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees and observers.

Complete mandatory hospital/laboratory education and departmental competencies within required timeframe.
