Required :
Associate degree in a related field with two (2) years of experience in instructional delivery, safety training, or DOE facility operations.
Preferred:
Bachelor degree in a related field and relevant experience. Familiarity with DOE O 426.2 and hazardous waste facility permit (HWFP) requirements.
Equivalency:

Purpose and Scope: SENMC is seeking a qualified General Employee Training (GET) Instructor to deliver and maintain foundational training for all site personnel and contractors. This role ensures that individuals accessing the WIPP site are equipped with the essential safety, regulatory, and procedural knowledge required for safe and compliant operations. The ideal candidate will bring experience in nuclear or hazardous waste facility operations and a strong understanding of working in specialized environments such as underground mines. A Certified Trainer or Instructor credential is highly valued to ensure consistent, high-quality instructional delivery across diverse audiences. Experience with CPR/First Aid or emergency preparation training is preferred, supporting a culture of safety and readiness. By integrating these specialized skills into the training program, the GET Instructor helps maintain operational excellence, compliance with DOE O 426.2 and the WIPP Training Implementation Matrix (TIM) and promotes a strong safety culture across the site.
Duties and Responsibilities: Deliver initial and refresher General Employee Training (GET) courses using Adult Learning Principles. Ensure training aligns with DOE O 426.2 and WIPP Training Implementation Matrix (TIM). Develop and update instructional materials. Administer written exams and practical demonstrations. Maintain accurate training records and ensure timely requalification. Regularly assess the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, knowledge checks, and performance metrics, and recommend or implement improvements to enhance learning outcomes and compliance. Support internal and external audits by verifying that all site personnel and contractors meet required training standards before accessing controlled areas and promptly address any identified gaps or deficiencies. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content relevance. Other duties as assigned in response to a rapidly changing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ·
Ability to teach safety and compliance content effectively to diverse audiences using Adult Learning Principles. ·
Skilled in designing and updating training. ·
Understanding of RCRA, OSHA, MSHA, and DOE safety standards. ·
Accurate documentation of training completion and qualification status. ·
Works well with HR, technical training, and facility line management. ·
Capable of adjusting training delivery for different roles and learning styles. ·
Excellent communication skills: keen appreciation for follow up, follow through, and attention to detail. ·
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. ·
Punctual and dependable.
