Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $53.93-$58.93/Hour

Contribute to a company forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital hardware schematics and PCB layouts, including FPGAs, DDR3/DDR4/LPDDR4 memory, and high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, SDIO).
  • Utilize Siemens Xpedition or equivalent EDA tools for schematic capture, constraint definition, and layout design.
  • Perform signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis to ensure design robustness and manufacturability.
  • Design for testability and manufacturing (DFT/DFM) throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
  • Conduct lab-based testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electrical test equipment to validate hardware performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to integrate system-level requirements.
  • Support hardware prototyping, debugging, and documentation of technical findings and revisions.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field, with 5+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB/PWB design, including high-speed digital subsystems and components.
  • Proficient with Siemens Xpedition, Altium Designer, or equivalent tools for PCB design and layout.
  • Hands-on experience with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with advanced board materials, packaging techniques, and hardware verification methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and mentor junior engineers when needed.
