Estimated Pay Range:
$25.54 - $38.30 / hour
based on location, education, & experience. In accordance with State Pay Transparency Rules. Location & Schedule
Remote position available only if you live in the following states: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI & WY. Hours are flexible with the ability to work your 8‑hour shift between 5am‑7pm (Monday‑Friday) and Banner Health provides equipment for you to stay in contact with your team. Responsibilities
Analyzes medical information from medical records and accurately codes diagnostic and procedural information in accordance with national coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements. Abstracts clinical diagnoses, procedure codes and documents other pertinent information from the medical record into the electronic medical record system. Provides quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with coding rules and regulations for Medicaid, CMS, OIG and HCFA as well as company and professional standards. Compiles daily and monthly reports; tabulates data from medical records for research or analysis purposes. Identifies validation edits and revision issues to ensure compliant coding, recognizing complex diagnoses and procedures with attention to detail. Works independently under regular supervision, using specialized knowledge for accurate assignment of ICD/CPT codes and seeking guidance for correct interpretation of coding guidelines and LCDs. Qualifications
3+ years recent experience in Cardiology Profee EM coding, clearly reflected in your attached resume. Surgical Cardiology experience preferred. Must be currently certified through AAPC or AHIMA with active status; this position requires a CPC in active status (more than a CPC‑A level certification). Strong knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles and competency as recommended by the American Health Information Management Association. Experience in a large, multi‑system physician practice preferred. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a remote setting, utilizing common office programs, coding software and abstracting systems. Preferred Qualifications
Specialty Certification (e.g., Radiology Certified Coder if employed in Imaging space). Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and specialized formal training equivalent to a 2‑year certification course in medical record keeping principles and practices, anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, standard nomenclature, and classification of diagnoses and operations, or an Associate’s degree in a related health care field. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS‑P), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) in an active status with AHIMA or AAPC, with or without a general specialty area. Three or more years of complex professional coding experience within specialty. EEO Statement
