Analyzes medical information from records, accurately codes diagnostic and procedural information in accordance with national coding guidelines, consults with providers to clarify missing information, provides thorough, timely and accurate coding, addresses NCCI edits, and reconciles charges as required. Abstracts clinical diagnoses, procedure codes and documents pertinent information into the electronic medical records, seeks out missing information, creates complete records including disease and procedure codes, discharge disposition, dates of surgery, attending physicians, etc., and refers inconsistent documentation for clarification. Provides quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with coding rules for Medicaid, CMS, OIG, HA, and company standards. Compiles daily and monthly reports, tabulates data from records for research or analysis. Identifies validation edits and revision issues to ensure compliant coding. Recognizes complex diagnoses and procedures, pays attention to detail to ensure accurate coding, reimbursement, and compliance. Works independently under regular supervision, uses specialized knowledge for accurate codes according to national guidelines, seeks guidance for correct interpretation of guidelines and LCDs. Requirements
3 years recent experience in Cardiology Profee EM coding (clearly reflected in your attached resume). Surgical Cardiology experience preferred. Must be currently certified as CPC in active status (non‑apprentice CPC‑A); provide certification number or upload copy. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with specialized formal training or an associate’s degree in a related health care field. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or similar active certification from AHIMA or AAPC. Three or more years of complex professional coding experience in the specialty. Knowledge and understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles, as recommended by AHIMA coding competencies. Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, using coding software and abstracting systems. Preferred Qualifications
Specialty certification such as Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) if employed in the imaging space. Additional related education and experience preferred. Experience in a large, multi‑system physician practice preferred. Seniority level
