Job Summary Senior Medical Lab Scientist – Hematology

8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Role And Responsibilities

Selection of test methodology appropriate for the clinical use of the test results.

Verification of test procedures performed and establishment of laboratory test performance characteristics, including precision and accuracy.

Ensuring enrollment and participation in a CMS‑approved proficiency testing program, reviewing PT results, and implementing corrective action plans.

Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and maintaining acceptable analytical performance levels.

Resolving technical problems and ensuring remedial actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.

Ensuring patient test results are not reported until corrective actions are taken and the test system is functioning properly.

Identifying training needs and ensuring regular in‑service training and education for testing personnel.

Evaluating competency of all testing personnel and maintaining competency to perform test procedures and report results promptly and accurately.

Performing routine maintenance, function checks, and calibrations on equipment and documenting quality control results.

Participating in quality assurance/quality improvement activities, proficiency testing, and regulatory readiness activities, including audits.

Assisting in training/orientation of new employees or students and providing technical and non‑technical staff supervision on a periodic basis.

Supporting the Clinical Manager and supervisors in developing training programs and new training initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science or an accredited science degree.

Licenses and Certifications:

ASCP certification or equivalent required.

Work Experience:

4 or more years clinical laboratory experience in hematology or core laboratory.

Additional:

Ability to perform waived and non‑waived testing and handle high‑complexity testing under general supervision.

Pay Range: $31.83 – $46.30/Hourly
