The Fee-For-Service Pediatric Speech Pathologist is responsible for planning and providing speech and language rehabilitation services to patients in their homes and working with patient, family and others to provide training and assistive devices.

Responsibilities

Develop a plan of treatment including modalities, frequency, expected outcome, and short‑term goals.

Assess patients and organize a therapeutic plan of care for therapy including swallowing disorders.

Evaluate test results to determine presence and extent of speech and language disorders or swallowing.

Evaluate patient limitations and rehabilitation potential in collaboration with agency professional.

Recommend use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to maintain or restore maximum performance of speech and language.

Consider patients' psychological response to the effects of disease and changes in body image and speech.

Address patients' needs in a realistic short‑term and long‑term treatment plan.

Implement the plan of treatment under physician direction and in collaboration with agency professional.

Provide speech and language rehabilitation services to achieve identified goals.

Plan, direct and supervise patient, family and other appropriate health team personnel in use of specific verbal/physical exercises and/or equipment.

Teach use of adaptive equipment to patient, family, and other appropriate health team personnel.

Instruct patients, family, and other appropriate health team personnel in program exercises for continuation of maintenance program.

Counsel patient/family to aid in interaction and adjustment to patient's functional limitations.

Observe, record, and report to the physician and program personnel the patients’ reaction to treatment and any changes.

Required Qualifications

Must have a license and current registration to practice as a Speech Pathologist in the State of New York.

Master of Arts in Speech Pathology.

Minimum of 1 year experience as a speech pathologist working in a hospital, long‑term care, rehab facility, or home health agency.

Experience working with pediatric population is a plus.

Must be able to make home visits in potentially unsafe and unsanitary home environments and be comfortable with travel on public transportation in potentially unsafe areas of community.

Lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 325 pounds using an assistive device in the home environment may also be required.

Salary: $85.00 per visit.
