Job Summary Provides IT/AV support to the Office of Research and Economic Development, reporting centers and the University Graduate School by identifying, prioritizing, troubleshooting and resolving IT/AV issues on hardware, software and other electronic devices. Provides support for the administration of the university’s effort reporting, technology management and commercialization, and discovery user profile systems.
Responsibilities
Provides IT and AV support to the Office of Research and Economic Development, reporting centers and the University Graduate School by identifying, prioritizing, troubleshooting and resolving IT issues on hardware, software and other electronic devices.
Assists end users with computer/workstation set‑up.
Works with end users on specs needed for new equipment and facilitates technical aspects of the procurement process.
Monitors and maintains computers/AV equipment including updates to software and security.
Maintains inventory of computers, phones, software and other equipment.
Tests and evaluates new technology.
Provides assistance in the maintenance and reporting on open cases.
Performs phone/internet diagnostics and sets up and orders new phones.
Creates and maintains documentation and procedures for areas of responsibility.
Provides support for listservs.
Provides technology support for meetings/events.
Provides secondary support as needed for other technology initiatives impacting research, economic development and graduate studies processes.
Provides support for the administration of the university’s technology management and commercialization software.
Provides support for the administration of the university’s effort reporting system.
Provides support for the administration of the university’s discovery user profile editor, Symplectic Elements.
Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field and two (2) years of experience in the field; OR six (6) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of advanced features in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
Ability to maintain a high level of professional integrity.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds of weight.
Effective customer service skills.
Excellent communication (oral & written) skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Understanding of computer networking and computer security, SharePoint, Active Directory, Hardware/Software support.
Be familiar with AV equipment.
Experience in hardware support, installation and repair.
Familiarity with research administration processes as necessary for applicable system administration tasks.
