Overview

Viking Engineering and Development is seeking a dynamic Field Service Engineer – Capital Equipment to support our customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industry‑leading wood fastening machines. The role involves hands‑on training operators, managing machine setup, and ensuring optimal performance for long‑term customer success. Responsibilities

Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain Viking equipment using electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Test and calibrate equipment to meet specifications. Perform modifications and repairs; document changes accurately and communicate with engineering teams. Train customer operators and maintenance staff on operation, safety, and preventive maintenance. Provide phone support as needed. Maintain strong customer relationships and address issues professionally and efficiently. Provide detailed service and expense reports promptly. Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and OSHA regulations. Required Skills and Experience

3+ years of experience in field service of industrial equipment or related mechanical/electrical roles. High mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving and troubleshooting ability, especially in electrical systems, PLC, and mechanical systems. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. A two‑year degree in Mechatronics or Automated Machines preferred. Preferred Software Experience

Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Emerson and B&R Programming Software. SolidWorks. Travel

This role requires extensive travel, 75‑100% travel on average, including domestic and international travel. Candidates must be able to drive for extended periods and possess a U.S. passport. Pay and Benefits

This full‑time non‑exempt position offers an hourly range of $33.00 – $50.00, dependent on experience and skills. The company regularly requires overtime hours as needed. Benefits
