Job Summary PCG seeks an experienced Senior Data Governance Engineer based in our Lenexa, KS office. The Senior Engineer is a key technical leader who architects and implements enterprise‑grade governance and security capabilities across the organization’s data ecosystem, with an emphasis on Microsoft Fabric. The role defines and operationalizes how data is secured, cataloged, classified, and governed across domains to ensure trust, compliance, and discoverability. The Senior Engineer partners closely with data owners, architects, and security teams to design scalable frameworks, automate governance controls, and establish best practices that enable the responsible use of data throughout the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain the data governance architecture within Microsoft Fabric and connected platforms, ensuring consistency in access management, metadata, and data lifecycle controls.
Translate governance policies into technical configurations and automation workflows, enabling seamless enforcement of standards.
Define and evolve data ownership and stewardship models, including roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths.
Develop governance patterns and reusable templates that can be applied across Fabric workspaces, domains, and pipelines.
Architect and implement RBAC, object‑level security, and data masking frameworks within Fabric environments.
Ensure data usage complies with organizational security standards, privacy laws, and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA.
Partner with Information Security to align Fabric’s governance model with enterprise identity management, encryption, and auditing practices.
Lead periodic data access audits and implement automated controls for least‑privilege access and data protection.
Oversee enterprise‑level metadata management and lineage tracking to ensure visibility into data sources, transformations, and usage across Fabric and integrated systems.
Define and maintain data quality standards and validation frameworks tied to governance policies.
Build and maintain automation scripts, APIs, or CI/CD pipelines to deploy and manage governance configurations at scale.
Integrate Microsoft Fabric with enterprise data governance, quality, and cataloging platforms to support a unified view of governed data assets.
Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to monitor governance KPIs, including access compliance, lineage completeness, and policy coverage.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert and trusted advisor for data governance implementation across all data domains.
Mentor junior engineers and analysts in governance best practices and Fabric configuration principles.
Contribute to the data governance operating model, influencing process design, policy enforcement, and platform roadmap decisions.
Basic Qualifications
Deep hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Pipelines, and Workspaces.
Proficient in designing and implementing RBAC, security models, and compliance controls across data platforms.
Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data classification concepts.
Experience with automation scripting (PowerShell, Python, or SQL) for deploying governance and security configurations.
Familiarity with modern data architectures (lakehouse, data mesh, semantic layer) and their governance implications.
Working knowledge of data quality frameworks, cataloging tools, and policy enforcement mechanisms.
Practical understanding of the DAMA‑DMBOK framework or similar enterprise governance methodologies.
Experience operationalizing governance policies across distributed data environments.
Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements impacting data security, retention, and privacy.
Proven ability to translate governance policies into technical and operational controls.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
7+ years of experience in data engineering, governance, or data platform administration.
Demonstrated success leading or influencing enterprise data governance initiatives.
Experience in regulated industries (construction, healthcare, finance, or manufacturing) is preferred.
