Job Description The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Drawing and Foundations. The successful candidate will have a dynamic record of research and creative activity that positions Drawing as a critical and expansive discipline, with a technical background and the ability to teach across all levels of a Drawing curriculum. Candidates who engage traditional and innovative techniques and interdisciplinary approaches are welcome. The hire will teach a 2/3 course load and lead the Drawing program, including curriculum development, studio oversight, and fostering collaborative relationships across the department and School of the Arts. Courses will span introductory to advanced levels, and the candidate will contribute to the development of a new interdisciplinary Foundations course.

The Department of Art and Design offers BA and BFA degrees and serves more than 200 majors. Incoming faculty will join a growing program within the School of the Arts, which brings together Art and Design, Art History, Cinema, Music and Theatre. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across initiatives within and beyond the department. This position is part of Binghamton\'s multiyear cluster hire initiative in Arts Practice, Performance and Research in the 21st Century.

Requirements Required Qualifications:

MFA or equivalent terminal degree by August 17, 2026

University level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated active creative practice that foregrounds drawing

Fluency in issues related to contemporary drawing

Fluency in historical developments in drawing

Experience teaching in a foundations curriculum
