Summary The Department of Chemistry and Center for Photochemical Sciences invite applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in the field of Inorganic Photochemistry. This is a full-time, 9-month appointment with an August 2026 start date.

Information about Program and College The Department of Chemistry is one of 17 academic units in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department currently has 16 full-time faculty members and offers an American Chemical Society approved Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Specializations in Biochemistry and Forensic Chemistry are available. A vibrant and interdisciplinary doctoral program in Photochemical Sciences is overseen by the Center for Photochemical Sciences. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates who can contribute excellence in teaching, scholarly/creative work, and/or service toward achieving excellence throughout the university and to the greater community. Essential Functions

Teach undergraduate courses in the Chemistry BS curriculum, such as Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Advanced Inorganic Laboratory, and General Chemistry

Teach graduate courses in the Photochemical Sciences program in the interdisciplinary area between Inorganic Chemistry and Photochemistry and Photophysics

Initiate an independent research program aimed at the interfacial area between Inorganic Chemistry and the Photosciences that generates a high level of scholarly publication and provides research opportunities and training to both graduate and undergraduate students

Actively seek and obtain external funding to sustain a research program

Provide service to the department, college, and university, as well as to the profession

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Chemistry, or a closely related discipline (e.g., Photochemical Sciences, Materials Chemistry, etc.)

Research experience in inorganic chemistry that overlaps with and contributes to the Photochemical Sciences doctoral program

One year of postdoctoral research experience

Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by five peer-reviewed journal publications

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of postdoctoral research experience

Publications in high-impact journals

Plan of research, in the area of Inorganic Photochemistry, that complements the research of other Center for Photochemical Sciences faculty

Experience mentoring students in research
