Strong technical expertise in life insurance, annuities, reinsurance (e.g., funds withheld, modco), and investment accounting (e.g., structured products, mortgage loans, private placements).
Demonstrated success in implementing complex accounting standards from policy development to operational rollout.
In‑depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and NAIC statutory accounting.
Skilled in project management and leading cross‑functional initiatives.
Adept at translating complex accounting concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
Proficient in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP), insurance subledgers, and reporting tools (Workiva, Clearwater, Power BI).
Responsibilities
Analyze and apply U.S. GAAP and statutory guidance, with emphasis on LDTI, reinsurance, investment accounting, and consolidation/VIEs.
Maintain the company's accounting policy manual and technical documentation.
Prepare technical memos and lead resolution of complex or unique transactions.
Collaborate with Legal, Actuarial, Investments, and Risk teams to ensure well‑rounded policy decisions.
Convert technical conclusions into actionable playbooks, controls, journal entries, and close calendar tasks.
Lead adoption of new accounting standards and ensure cross‑functional preparedness (e.g., LDTI, VIEs, reinsurance structures).
Work closely with accounting operations to integrate policies into close and reporting processes.
