Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Revenue Cycle Office Manager to oversee all aspects of the billing and revenue cycle operations within our orthopedic medical practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in Athenahealth and a strong background in medical billing, collections, and reimbursement processes specific to orthopedic services, as well as proven leadership and process improvement skills. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities: Manage the full revenue cycle process including patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture, coding, billing, payment posting, and collections. Oversee daily operations of the billing department to ensure accurate and timely claims submission and reimbursement. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as days in A/R, denial rates, and collection targets. Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize the revenue cycle and reduce claim denials. Work closely with orthopedic providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to ensure accurate documentation and coding compliance. Review and resolve complex billing or reimbursement issues. Supervise and mentor revenue cycle staff, including billing specialists and front-end team members involved in patient financial processes. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with payer guidelines and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with external vendors, payers, and clearinghouses to maintain smooth claim processing and communication. Prepare and present financial and operational reports to leadership. Lead initiatives to improve patient financial experience and overall revenue performance. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (preferred). Minimum 5 years of experience in revenue cycle management, preferably in an orthopedic or specialty medical office. Strong understanding of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10), and payer reimbursement processes. Proven track record of managing and improving revenue cycle KPIs. Experience with Athenahealth, NextGen, or other electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems. Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff performance effectively. Knowledge of healthcare compliance, HIPAA, and payer regulations. Strategic problem-solving and decision-making abilities Strong financial and analytical acumen Excellent organizational and time management skills Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
