Program Description Manufacturing Development Program (MDP) is a 15-month rotational program designed to develop leaders of people or processes through hands-on experience, project work, and professional development.

As an MDP participant, you will spend 9 months rotating through plant departments while tackling cost or time-saving projects. Rotations include Production, Maintenance, and Warehouse, with possible rotations to operations, engineering, human resources, or quality assurance depending on availability and interest. You will have the opportunity to serve as Plant Supervisor for 6 months to understand the role and its impact on plant performance.

Relocating after completing the program is important to broaden job opportunities within Niagara.

Essential Functions

During these 15 months, you will focus on career development through on-the-job training and professional development, including customized training and support. Examples include:

Formalized professional skills training including Niagara culture, self-awareness, and leadership development

Ongoing support from Niagara leadership, MDP alumni, and a Talent Development advisor

Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt training and projects

6 months of experience leading a shift in a manufacturing environment

Minimum travel to other plant locations (3 weeks minimum)

Work in all aspects of manufacturing and complete cross-departmental projects

Present experiences and project outcomes to local and regional leadership

Attend department/manager meetings and act on feedback

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

2 Years – Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment

2 Years – Experience managing people/projects

1 Year - internship experience
