Assistant Director of Nursing / ADON (RN)
Full‑time. The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in maintaining resident care standards, advising medical staff, department heads, and administrators on Nursing Service matters. The ADON establishes policies, interprets them, and fosters general staff development.
Assist the DON in administering nursing department policies and procedures.
Plan, organize, and supervise the Nursing Department around the clock to assure competent nursing care for residents.
Maintain an active staff development program.
Encourage increased competency and skill at all levels of staff.
Advise the DON of any problems related to resident care.
Monitor the resident medical and nursing history for completeness and inclusion in the medical record.
Participate in QAA.
Assist the DON in maintaining care standards.
Provide leadership and promote team spirit with staff, interdisciplinary team, and department heads.
Supervise and counsel personnel to fulfill objectives of the Nursing Department.
Create and maintain a motivating environment that encourages employee involvement, creativity, and problem solving.
Educational Requirements and Experience
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas.
Knowledge of Nursing Theory and standards of practice.
Must have at least 2 years Skilled Nursing experience.
Must have at least 1 year ADON experience in a Skilled Nursing Community.
