Description
QUALITY ENGINEER
(Must have previous experience in quality in a machine shop or fabrication environment)
Responsibilities
Monitor processes and products to ensure adherence to internal standards and customer specifications. Identify quality problems, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and recommend effective solutions. Develop, write, and implement quality management system documentation. Assist in training new and existing employees on standard processes and procedures related to quality. Perform internal process audits to assess the effectiveness of the quality management system. Contribute to Continuous Improvement Projects, collaborating with key stakeholders to enhance processes. Conduct audits for new and existing vendors and manage the Approved Vendor List. Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement solutions to resolve quality issues. Ensure all contractual requirements for customer projects are clearly defined, followed through production, and completed prior to shipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to interpret and understand manufacturing code quality documentation and criteria. Demonstrated attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Preferred Qualifications
Five or more years of quality engineering experience (a 2-year or 4-year degree may substitute some experience). Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification. American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certification(s), such as CQA or CQE. Experience in reading and interpreting customer blueprints and specification documentation. Experience with Department of Defense (DOD) contract requirements. Background in welding and fabrication. Experience working in an ASME Coded Shop. NDE (VT/PT/MT) certification or practical experience with the capability to obtain Level I/II certification. Practical knowledge of GD&T principles. Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME BPVC, and/or NAVSEA fabrication, welding, and inspection codes. Experience with weld program quality control and PQR/WPQ/WPS documentation. Experience in mechanical drawing and GD&T interpretation, with an understanding of machining processes.
