Overview
Our client seeks a highly skilled
Senior Industrial Controls Engineer
to provide advanced technical and engineering support for automated industrial machinery and electronic control systems. This position plays a critical role in designing, programming, and maintaining complex automation environments across multiple facilities. Key Responsibilities
Design, read, and modify
electrical, fluid power (hydraulic/pneumatic), and P&ID schematics
in compliance with IEC and NFPA standards. Develop, test, and maintain
PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
using Siemens, Allen Bradley, and other platforms. Program in multiple languages, including
Structured Control Language (SCL), Ladder Logic, FBD, Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, Python, and SQL . Manage and modify
MSSQL Server databases
for system integration and performance. Troubleshoot, install, and commission a wide range of
industrial machinery, VFDs, and control systems . Retrofit and upgrade obsolete equipment, integrating new technologies seamlessly. Use precision diagnostic tools such as
oscilloscopes, calibrators, and vibration analyzers . Source parts and materials and coordinate with the maintenance team for timely project execution. Train and mentor
technicians and apprentices
in automation programming, calibration, and troubleshooting. Adhere to all
safety protocols and PPE requirements
while ensuring compliance with company standards. Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and train
mechatronics/controls technician apprentices
and seasonal interns. Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science (Bachelor’s preferred) with focus on Programming or equivalent experience. Experience:
Minimum
10 years of industrial automation experience . Certifications:
Siemens or Allen Bradley Programmer Certification (preferred). Licenses:
State-issued electrical trades license (preferred). Proficiency in
AutoCAD Electrical
preferred. Strong understanding of
NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) . Skills & Competencies
Advanced troubleshooting and programming ability. Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and teamwork mindset. Proven ability to work independently and lead others. Physical & Environmental Requirements
Regularly stand, walk, climb, kneel, or crouch. Lift or move up to
50 lbs
and occasionally work at heights exceeding
60 feet . Exposure to
heat, noise, machinery, and electrical systems . Must use proper PPE at all times. Seniority level
